Viator Somniorum
Viator Somniorum — the dream wanderer — is an oracle that speaks in the language of sleep and vision. Each of its 51 cards holds an archetypal image drawn from the terrain of the unconscious: the symbols, thresholds, and figures that appear when the waking mind grows quiet. It is a deck for those who seek guidance not through reason alone, but through intuition, reverie, and the quiet knowing that surfaces in liminal hours.
What Viator Somniorum is
"Viator Somniorum," from the Latin, means "the wanderer of dreams," or the traveler of dreams. It is an oracle of fifty-one cards, where each image is an archetype of the dreaming world: Flight and Falling, Illusion and Awakening, the Dark Night and the World of Dreams. The deck grew out of working with dreams and healing — and it speaks the language of the unconscious, not of reason.
This is not Tarot. There are no suits, no arcana, no court cards, no rigid system here — just fifty-one clear, recognizable symbols, each one as if surfacing from the depths of a dream. The cards are read upright and reversed.
How to read the dream oracle
Viator Somniorum works beautifully with a single card — as an image of the day or an answer to a specific question — and in combinations, where neighboring cards refine and color one another. The upright position reveals an energy in its clear form; the reversed shows its shadow side, the way out of a state, or advice on what to work through.
The main key to the deck is paying attention to the images that come to you in dreams and in waking life. The card hints at the theme to turn your gaze toward; write down recurring symbols, feelings, and dream stories — that's where the answer is hidden.
How the deck is built
Fifty-one archetype cards, with no division into suits, Major, or Minor Arcana. Each card stands on its own and carries one resonant image of dream experience — from the bodily (Health, Dance, Healing) and the emotional (Fear, Shame, Laughter) to the deep and the mystical (Past Lives, Other Worlds, the Source, Prophecy).
What questions it suits
This is a deck for a conversation with yourself and with your unconscious: working with dreams, searching for an inner path, living through loss and change, healing and shadow work. It rarely gives an "everyday" yes/no answer, and more often offers a direction, an image, and advice on where to look and what to touch within yourself.
How we read Viator Somniorum
The interpretations on Arcanika are our own exclusive, original system of reading. We took the image of each card and reassembled it into a single, warm, human voice: the essence, the upright and reversed meaning, a piece of practical advice. We don't copy anyone else's texts, and we don't invent meanings out of thin air.
Our tone is clear and speaks to you directly — like a conversation with someone helping you make sense of your own dream, not a verdict of fate.
